New Songs March 2025
Hello, My Darlings —
Last month was February, which is usually a fairly grey and dreary time in Toronto. But… I got to be a part of the RPM Challenge: “a global creative challenge to record original music in February”. And that charged my creative batteries!
I got to work on two big new songs, and now you can hear them too:
Shallow Waters is a song I wrote with the incredible Harini Shankar — we combined forces on music and lyrics to create this uplifting vibe:
Can you hear my percussion choices? I had a blast in my kitchen tapping on tea tins and water bottles to record the sounds you hear here. And I brought home a set of brass cymbals from my trip to West Bengal in January, so of course they had to feature.
It was such a dream to make music and sing with Harini. We recorded layers and sent them back and forth to each other -- so we could react to each other's melodies and performances. What a blast!
And, just released today… Fingerbell Calypso. I read these heart-stirring lyrics (by Magikker) and had to turn them into a folk song — luckily my RPM friends were happy to play along. So we’ve also got the stunning strings of Alexandra Stanossek, finger-style guitar from Tony Hurt, and a slide guitar solo to die for by Crash Blossoms!
As ever, thanks for listening, and thanks for your support. It means the world to me to have people following along my creative journey.
Biggest love,
Lindsay
